Staff Book Review with Liz

What would your last meal on this earth be?

Set in 1950’s Louisiana, this story follows Ginny Polk, daughter of a murdered prison warden, who grows up to become the penitentiary’s cook.  Her specialty, providing last meals to death row inmates.  This story is as timely as ever, uncovering universal truths, not only of the incessant racial bias in our prison system, but of the personal prisons we build for ourselves.  Grappling with the age old adage, “The Truth Shall Set You Free”, Ginny Polk’s personal journey to freedom is both inspirational and thought provoking.
